Valley Homes For Sale & Valley Real Estate

Valley, Nebraska is a picture-perfect small town steeped in traditional values. Located twenty-one miles northwest of Omaha, its population of approximately 1,800 enjoys quiet residential living within convenient commuting distance of major employers in the Omaha metropolitan area. Valley was immortalized in the works of author Gail Rock, who renamed it Clear Rock and used it as the setting for her most famous work, “The House Without a Christmas Tree.” Valley is a family-oriented community with a relaxed atmosphere; many community events are centered around local schools and churches.

Traditional family values are on display in Valley, Nebraska. Located within easy commuting distance of major employers in the area, Valley retains its small-town charm and relaxed pace of life. Neighbors gather at church socials or sit on their front porches to exchange greetings with passersby; children play in their back yards or at the local city park. Valley offers a safe, low-crime environment for raising families or starting a new business. Valley’s churches serve as centers of social activity within the community, while extracurricular school events provide additional chances for neighbors to gather and support local students.

Valley recently combined its school district with that of neighboring Waterloo; the resulting district is referred to as the Douglas County West Community Schools, and offers excellent educational opportunities for students in the area. Valley residents commute to jobs in Omaha, Lincoln, and other surrounding metropolitan areas. While local employment opportunities are limited due to Valley’s small size, a number of local restaurants, banks, and antique shops provide jobs for some of the local residents. Valley is also the site for the regional National Weather Service office, which provides weather data for much of eastern Nebraska and southwestern Iowa. The median housing price in this small community is in the low $100s.
