Benson Homes For Sale

Benson was originally founded in 1887 by land speculator Erastus Benson, for whom it is named, on 900 acres of land he purchased from Edward Creighton. Benson is one of the oldest communities in the Omaha area. It grew to a population of approximately 5,000 before it was annexed by Omaha in 1917; today, Benson is part of North Omaha and is one of the best-known and culturally important neighborhoods in the Omaha area. For young professionals, Benson is quickly becoming the place to be.

The city was originally called Benson Place, but the name was soon shortened to Benson. Benson was annexed by Omaha in 1917. Benson is an established community with a vibrant performing and visual arts scene.

Benson is a pedestrian and bike-friendly community, with groceries, restaurants, libraries, and major employers within walking distance of the neighborhood. Local clubs include The Sydney, The Waiting Room Lounge, and Reverb Lounge which features live music performances and exhibit artwork for sale by area artists.

Benson is served by the Omaha Public Schools.

Students usually attend Adams Elementary SchoolBenson West Elementary School, Boyd Elementary School, Fontenelle Elementary School, Monroe Middle School, Northwest High School, and Benson High School.

Other Midtown Omaha Neighborhoods

If you are interested in Benson, there are a few other options nearby to consider. Dundee and Memorial Park are just to the south. Those neighborhoods are going to be more expensive.

If you keep going south, you will find Aksarben, Field Club, and Morton Meadows.

Gifford Park to the east has some options but also a lot of rentals.
