For the third exciting year in a row, the city of Omaha was proud to be part of the Nebraska Science Festival.  This fun-filled and fascinating multi-day event is devoted to bringing the magic of science to kids and adults all over Nebraska. Participating cities, including Omaha, pull out all the stops as they open up factories for tours, set up shop in University labs, and generally open doors to the pubic throughout various neighborhoods for a fun, science-filled series of events and happenings all over the state. Sponsored by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the festival is also made possible by other individuals and organizations, including our own Omaha World-Herald.

In case you haven't heard, Omaha's very own Crescent Moon is one of the top beer bars in the country. At least that's what Draft Magazine thinks... and they should know. Every year they draft what's considered the authoritative guide to the 100 best alehouses in the country, and for 4 years in a row Crescent Moon has made the list.

Crescent Moon's Claim to Greatness

And with beers on tap with names like "Renegade Brewing Hiatus Cold Coffee Infuses Oatmeal Stout" and "Brau Brothers Moo Joos Oatmeal Milk Stout", how could this not be an award-winning beer bar? Located at the intersection of 36th and Farnam Streets, Crescent Moon dubs itself as Omaha's Original Alehouse.  In a city known for its rich history of brewing beer, that's quite a claim.

Everyone loves a book club- in fact, there are an estimated 5 million people who belong to book clubs in the US.  Chances are at least a few are right here in Omaha. And you know what's so great about book clubs?  Contrary to popular opinion, they're not just for bookworms!  All sorts of people join them, which makes them perfect for anyone just moving to our fair city and surrounding areas. That's because they're about more than just reading books.  They're about meeting people and forming a circle of friends.  And don't forget the desserts!  Seems every book club has an unwritten rule: there must be sweets!
