Guide to Celebrity Homes

I've guided many Omaha families through the new construction process. If you are considering buying or building a new home, please reach out. I look out for your best interests, not the builders.

 

In 2020, Celebrity Homes built 646 homes in the Omaha area. That makes it the largest builder in the Omaha area (by number of homes).

As the area’s biggest home builder, Celebrity Homes offers potential homeowners a ton of different options. There are 26 different floor plans and Celebrity builds in more than ten neighborhoods (although they don't build every floor plan in every neighborhood). 

If you want to pick out a lot and customize your home from scratch, expect it to take at least 8 months. But if you need to move sooner, Celebrity Homes has dozens of new homes available at different stages of construction. And depending on the stage of construction, you can still make custom selections.

Customizations / Selection Process

Celebrity Homes offers a limited amount of customizations. You get to choose finishes upfront including wall colors, floor coverings, and cabinets and countertops. But when it comes to the layout, what you see is what you get. When you walk through a model home, that will be the layout of the home. You are not able to move walls, change the location of an appliance, etc. You won’t be able to change the floor plan. You can’t move walls nor switch them around.

Warranty

Celebrity offers a one year warranty. It starts from the date of closing and warrants “that your home was constructed in substantial conformity with the plans and specifications and that such home is free of any material defect in equipment, material, or workmanship performed by Celebrity and/or any of its subcontractors or suppliers.

Celebrity also offers a 2-10 Home Buyer’s Warranty which “warrants and insures certain construction quality standards for one or two years and warrants and insures against certain structural defects for ten years from closing.”

You will receive a warranty book from Celebrity that will outline what is covered and how to make a warranty repair request.

Most appliances have separate manufacturers warranties so if you have appliance issues in the first year, you need to contact the manufacturer directly.

But remember that the builder and the warranty company will not take responsibility for “normal home owner maintenance or any problems cause by lack of such homeowner maintenance.”

Financing

Celebrity Homes does have preferred lenders. According to Celebrity you could save up to $2,300 in closing costs if you use a preferred lender ($1,000 is Celebrity’s contribution and $1,300 from the lender).

I always recommend that you shop around for financing. Talk to two or three different lenders and use who you feel comfortable with. Sometimes it makes sense to use a builders preferred lenders while other times it does not.
