More about Elkhorn

Elkhorn’s small-town charm and rural atmosphere provide a welcome escape for families seeking refuge from big-city living.

Originally founded in 1865, Elkhorn retains its proud history as a small farming and railroad community. The downtown area features many historic buildings, and the annual Elkhorn Days Festival brings the whole community together each summer for food, fireworks, and fun.

Elkhorn was annexed by Omaha in 2007 despite various measures taken by the town government to prevent this from happening. The annexation has had little effect on the town and its growth thus far; Elkhorn remains one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the Omaha area.

Attendance in the Elkhorn Public Schools has exploded in the past decade. The district went from one high school to three in the span of 12 years. There are also numerous new elementary schools as well.

But, all of this comes with a price. Elkhorn is one of the more expensive areas in Omaha. Expect to spend $350k or more for a single-family home.
