Bellevue Homes for Sale

Located eight miles south of Omaha, Bellevue is known as the “Birthplace of Nebraska” and is a quiet, family-oriented community. Most residents commute to work in Omaha, Council Bluffs, or at nearby Offutt Air Force Base but return each night to enjoy the quality of life that this historic city can provide. Bellevue is bordered on its east side by 1,300 acres of forest; the Fontenelle Forest area provides a natural retreat for residents and features two learning centers to educate visitors about the wetlands and preservation of the natural forest habitat. Local residents enjoy hiking and observing the abundant wildlife in this scenic area.

More about Bellevue

Bellevue originated as a fur trading post in the early 1800s and was incorporated in 1855 when its population increased significantly. The town grew again when Offutt Air Force Base was founded nearby. While Bellevue remains a largely residential area, it offers some employment opportunities through the local school system and healthcare facilities; most residents make a daily commute to nearby employment opportunities rather than working in Bellevue, however.

Bellevue schools get high ratings from parents and students; test scores are above the Nebraska state average, making the community highly attractive to families with children. For older children, Bellevue University offers local students an outstanding educational experience close to home. The median home price in Bellevue ranges around $140,000; most homes in this price range feature three bedrooms and two baths. Real estate bargains are sometimes available in this highly desirable residential community.
