Forest Run sits in the western part of Gretna. It's northwest of Capehart Road and near Green Acres Estates. Forest City Recreation Area, a new 80-acre park with a 15-acre lake, kayak launches, and a 1.7-mile trail, is essentially the neighborhood's backyard. The name of that park is actually a callback to the area's history: Gretna was originally called Forest City before the railroad came through and shifted the town's development. 

Homes in Forest Run

This is an acreage neighborhood. Lots typically run around an acre to just over an acre, which is rare compared to many other Gretna subdivisions. Homes were built from the late 1990s through the mid-2000s, and you'll find a mix of ranch-style homes and two-story homes.

Square footage above grade typically runs from around 2,000 to 4,000 square feet, with most homes landing somewhere in the mid-2,000s. These are not small houses. Features common in the neighborhood include vaulted ceilings, walk-out basements, covered or composite decks, granite countertops, and oversized garages.

A number of properties even have detached outbuildings or shops.

The one thing worth knowing: the 204th Street corridor has seen significant development over the past several years as Gretna has grown. Traffic on Schram Road and 204th has increased noticeably, and the City of Gretna has ongoing road improvement projects in the works. The subdivision itself is tucked off the main road, so the neighborhood stays pretty quiet, but getting in and out during peak hours on 204th can be a challenge.

Schools

Forest Run is entirely within the Gretna Public School District. Elementary school assignments have historically included Harvest Hills Elementary and Thomas Elementary, depending on which part of the subdivision you're in.
