Omaha's free spring yard waste collection season has officially begun as of May 5, 2025.

This six-week program runs through June 13. It allows residents to dispose of excess lawn debris without additional costs beyond their regular waste services.
Important Details to Remember:
- Collection period: May 5, 2025 to June 13, 2025
- No stickers required: Paper yard waste bags placed outside your cart will be collected at no additional cost during this period
- Stickers still required: Bundles of brush still require purchased yard waste stickers
- Weight limits: Paper yard waste bags may weigh up to 40 pounds
- Regular collection day: Yard waste is collected on your regular waste pickup day
During this special collection period, yard waste is taken to the Oma-Gro composting facility rather than the landfill. Your black lid garbage cart may also be used for yard waste, though materials placed in the cart will not be composted. When using your cart, FCC Environmental Services recommends placing a bag of garbage in first, as yard waste alone tends to pack tightly and may not fall out during collection.
For residents with larger amounts of yard waste, the Oma-Gro Production facility accepts self-hauled yard waste at no charge. The facility is located at 6606 S 60th Street (60th & Harrison) and is open weekdays from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Remember to follow proper yard waste preparation guidelines, which include using paper bags for leaves and clippings, and ensuring branches are no larger than 2 inches in diameter and no longer than 4 feet. After June 13, stickers will again be required for yard waste collection outside your cart until the fall collection season.
