Omaha currently has approximately 3600 homes that are deemed unsafe to live in; Of these, approximately 775 are on the list to be demolished. This has been a big problem in many ways. In demolition projects, as little as 40 percent of materials are salvaged. This leaves most of the wood, metal and other items wasted; filling up local landfills.

Jason Gillbreath, owner of Reclaimed Enterprises, has come up with inventive ways to save much of these homes in what is being called upcycling. The deconstructing process consists of carefully removing nails from walls, prying up flooring, pulling old sinks and counters and anything else salvageable from old, abandoned homes. All of these items will be re-purposed in various ways. New jobs, less waste and

A couple weeks ago, the Welcome Home Team was recognized by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate as the #10 team nationally in the number of homes closed. Better Homes has over 11,000 agents and 350 offices nationwide.

Last year, we did more than 100 transactions and almost $30 million.

This is truly a team award. I couldn’t have done any of this without my fantastic team. I started what has become the Welcome Home Team back in April 2017. At that point, there was no name, and it was just me and John Watson. Luke Cavagnaro and Mark Gorup joined shortly after to make up our small but mighty team. My team is made up of not only amazing real estate agents but even better human beings.

We are also fortunate to have so many clients that have put

Yesterday, Omaha received 6.16 inches of rain. It came up just short of the highest-ever-one-day rainfall total of 6.46 inches.

When we get that amount of rain, homeowners get very, very nervous. Nervous about their roof leaking and nervous about water in their basement.

When selling a house, most people try to do so in the summer or spring. These times of year are easier to sell a home as people naturally look at places when the weather is nice. On the other hand, some opt to sell their place in the winter. Here are five tips to get the most when selling your house in the winter.

Keep it warm

A potential buyer who walks into a cold and drafty house will quickly get tired of the place. To avoid this potentially costly issue, a homeowner should turn his or her thermostat to a comfortable temperature. Upon walking into a warm room, a potential buyer will feel more at home and will not want to leave so quickly.

Accentuate the positives

Sometimes, one can show off the cool parts of owning a home in the
